Executive Vice President / Pre-Construction Services

As Executive Vice President of BerryHutton, Don Clausen is responsible for the company’s strategic direction, continued growth, and profitability. Indispensable to the BerryHutton team, he has a proven approach to problem-solving and communication. The BerryHutton team is a testament to his ability to lead by example, and his favorite part of his job is seeing how the roles of team members change over time.

Don is a 1985 graduate of Auburn University with a bachelor’s degree in Building Science. His career began with top ENR firms, like McDevitt and Street of Charlotte, North Carolina, and RW Allen of Augusta, Georgia, where he managed and estimated numerous medical/healthcare, institutional/educational, religious, retail as well as some industrial projects.

Since joining Berry Construction in 2003, Don has led the estimating department and focused on pre-construction services from bid solicitation through contract negotiation. After 35+ years in the industry, Don understands how carefully planning of a project is integral to the success of the project itself. Using the strategies and procedures that he has developed and incorporated, BerryHutton has developed into one of the most recognized general contractors in the southeastern United States.

Don enjoys spending time with his family, including his wife of over 30 years, two daughters and son. He also enjoys playing golf and attending Auburn sporting events when he gets the chance.
